L: Kristin is one of my best friends. She was actually supposed to come with me tonight…

E: I can’t believe she’s not here! I love Kristin. She’s always been so sweet to me. In fact, I think –and I could be wrong-- but I think I caught a glimpse of her at Whole Foods the other day, and I almost ran over to say ‘Kristin, is that you?,’ but I was in line and I didn’t want to lose my spot!

L: I love it! You’re like ‘Kristin?!/Lose my place?!’ Nahh, she’s not worth it! (Evangeline Laughing). Well, she’ll be thrilled that you even thought about it. You know I have to ask a question about you about Kate and Jack for her.

E: Uh huh. Of course.

L: Is there anything…

E: Well, we’re in captivity together at this point. But I’m in captivity with Sawyer as well.

L: Are sparks going to fly?

E: I think there’s definitely a conducive environment for things to heat up.

L: Do you lean one way or another?

E: I really don’t. I used to say all the time that Kate and Sawyer made a more appropriate pair, because they were on a level with one another, whereas with Jack, Kate needed to redeem herself a bit in order to have him see her –in my opinion-- as an equal. But I feel like she’s getting there, though. You can see the changes in Kate and you can see her growing and developing a confidence around Jack that basically has gotten to a level where she’s saying ‘You know what, you are just as screwed up as I am, and who are you to be above me?’ and I think once they get past that, it could be really amazing.

L: Do you think Kate will be pissed or upset if she finds out about what happened between Sawyer and Ana Lucia?

E: I think Kate is not invested enough in the romance with Sawyer. I think Kate is really invested in the friendship and the connection and the emotional comraderie with Sawyer. I’m not convinced that she is there romantically. I think, romantically, her heart’s more with Jack. That’s my own personal opinion.

L: I always think so too, because opposites attract.

E: I agree. I think that there’s something about Sawyer that’s so much like her, that her love for him is almost like a sibling, you know, like a brother, or like a best friend. I mean, can’t you imagine Kate and Sawyer making the most amazing friends and team and partners? But I don’t know, romantically, I think she hasn’t seen that. Although she felt something when they kissed for sure!

L: Doesn’t it seem funny to talk about this person that’s you, but isn’t you…!

E: It does. I keep thinking that people are going to call me out and go ‘Um, hello, you can’t talk about her in the third person! She’s you!’ But really, she is something different, outside of me, that moves and breathes and grows outside of me, and I’m kind of at her mercy as much as she’s at my mercy.

L: I’m kind of glad they’ve gotten away from Kate being a bad girl, though.

E: Really?

L: Yeah, because I feel like she really is a good person…

E: Yes. I think because that’s where we’re at-- You know, actors always want what they can’t have, so there’s a part of me that misses it. It’s like ‘I wanna be the bad girl again!’ But when I was the bad girl, there was a part of me that was like ‘When are we going to see Kate smile and warm up a little bit?’ You can’t have someone be stone cold for three/four seasons without people losing interest in them, because they don’t see the human being within them. So I think they’ve done a really good job of bringing out the human being, but what I’d love to see now is the combination of that human being that you’ve grown to really be affectionate towards and love blending with the bad girl, which I think you saw a little bit of in the finale, where she went after The Others with that handgun like it was nothing. You know, she didn’t even wince, and just started shooting at human beings, so she’s got it in her still. You can see it.

L: It was such a great finale.

E: Oh good! I’m so glad you liked it. I really haven’t had a chance to hear what the fan response has been.

L: It’s been great.
